i• Almagro was appearing in the final for the first time on his 10th appearance.i

Rafael Nadal: “I feel very happy to lift the trophy once again here in Barcelona. It means a lot especially after the difficult year I’ve had. The conditions were very difficult today, especially in the first six games as it was raining a lot.”i

On defeating Almagro: “I am extremely satisfied about being able to defeat a player like Nico in straight sets in the final. I played better and better as the match went on and the break at 1-3 in the first set was vital for me. In the second set, things went smoother and I managed [to do] well in all the difficult moments.”i

Nicolas Almagro: “With the rain, the ball got heavier and it wasn’t the same for me anymore. The speed went down and he was able to stay more in the point. I feel okay after the match. I fought all week to be able to be in the final and I reached my goal. Once there, you want to win so yes I feel a bit disappointed about it but I need to look at it positively and it’s been a great week for me overall. I felt great here all week with the crowd and all the people from the club.”i

i Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares saved a championship point to win their second team title of the season (Sao Paulo) and fifth overall.i

Alexander Peya: “Every week you win a tournament, it's something special. We lost in the first round in our last two tournaments and we got through a tough first round here. We started to play better and better. Today was just a very good day. I think we performed well the whole day.i

On winning two matches in the same day: “It's always tough when there are rainy conditions and you wait around. But it's the same for everybody and it can happen at any tournament. Unfortunately it happened this week. I think the tournament did a great job to get it done. The courts were in very good shape. It was weird to play two matches in a row, but we are very happy.”i

Bruno Soares: “It was a great week. It was very strange and different. We played in a lot of sun the first two matches and then had to wait three days to play in the semi-finals. Today, we played two unbelievable matches. In the final, they played really well and fought hard. But we stayed positive and played our best at the end. We're going to Munich tomorrow and then Madrid and Rome. We're playing and feeling good, so we're hoping to keep that up.”i
