i• Tsonga defeated Federer in straight sets to earn his second ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title (also 2008 Paris) and his 11th overall. It ended an 18-month title drought for Tsonga, dating back to Marseille in 2013.i
i• The 29 year old became the first Frenchman to triumph on Canadian soil. He took home $598,900 and 1,000 Emirates ATP Rankings points for his victory.i

i• Tsonga defeated four Top 10 opponents in four days en route to the title, upending World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, No. 9 Andy Murray, No. 8 Grigor Dimitrov and No. 2 Federer.i
i• Federer, who turned 33 years old on Friday, was bidding to become the first player to claim 300 match wins at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 level.i

Tsonga: "I feel good. I think for the moment I don't really realise what I achieved this week, but it's a big achievement for me.i


i"It's completely different than before when I won in Paris. In Paris it was the first time, in front of my family, all my friends, everybody. Here I just did it with my level, with my game. I played well all week. I beat many good guys. It's a big achievement because I worked really hard to come back from my knee injury last year."i


Federer: "Today was just difficult in terms of rhythm from the baseline, so it was like a new tournament for me. No excuses. I think [Tsonga] played really solid and well when he had to and I think he served well overall, which was key for him."i

i"I'm overall pretty happy that I made the finals in my first tournament back on hard courts... I know what I need to work on the next few days and next few weeks."i

i• The Austrian-Brazilian pairing, who improved to a 5-0 record against Dodig and Melo, strengthened their bid to qualify for the season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.i
i• Today's doubles final marked the first time two Brazilians battled in an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title match.i

Peya: "[Qualifying for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals] was always our goal from the beginning of the year. We experienced it last year and when you experience it once you want to go back no matter what. We're in a good position. There's a lot of good tennis for us this year."i

Soares: "[It was] a lot of hard work. We managed to do everything right this week and from the beginning we didn't drop a set. We're serving really well, which is very important for our game and rest is just playing solid and staying very positive."i
