i• Third seeds Oliver Marach and Florin Mergea appeared in their first ATP World Tour final together. In 2013 they teamed together for the first time and won ATP Challenger Tour titles in Rennes and Geneva.i
i• This was the third time they played together this season (6-2 record) after reaching the 2R in Doha and the Australian Open.i
i• Marach has a 13-11 career record in ATP World Tour finals and his previous title came in Auckland in 2012 (w/Peya). Last year his title streak of six straight years came to an end after runner-up results in Bucharest and Basel.i
i• Mergea has a 2-0 record in ATP World Tour finals, also winning the title in Vienna last year.i

Mergea: "It's my second title. Right now I am probably going to get into the Top 50 [in the Emirates ATP Rankings] so it's a big step for me. It's a career best. We started the year really well."i

Marach: "The tournament is very good. I come here every year. I live not far away, in Panama, so it's perfect to prepare on clay here. We are very happy with our performance today and also for the whole week. We fought back. We were match point down in the first match, and other two matches we won in match tiebreaks. We beat very good teams here and I hope it continues this year.i

i"For sure we will play more together this year, for the next five or six months. If we play well we have a good chance to qualify for the [Barclays ATP World Tour Finals] in London. I have played it twice in London so I hope to play it again this year for the last time. It would be nice for Florin to play there but it's a long way to think about that. We will try our best. We will try to play very consistent the whole year through then we'll see if we can do that."i
