i• Top seed Rafael Nadal clinched his 37th clay-court title on Sunday as he defeated David Nalbandian.i


i• It is the Spaniard’s first trophy since winning at Roland Garros (d. Djokovic) in June 2012.i


i• The 26-year-old Nadal won his first indoor clay-court tournament as he improved to a 51-22 record in tour-level finals.i


i• Second seeds Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares captured their fourth ATP World Tour team title on Sunday as they edged third seeds Frantisek Cermak and Michal Mertinak.i


i• Peya and Soares have compiled a 24-6 match record since making their team debut in Bastad last year.i


Nadal: “It's very nice and important because at the end of your career what’s left are the titles, and depending on certain moments there are some titles that you appreciate very much. This one I appreciate it the most because of all the struggles I went through during the week, with some problems with my knee some days.i


i"True, David didn’t play very well, but in general I played my best match of the week. I am very happy, to win in Brazil for the second time, it's wonderful. In 2005 it was the beginning of all these last beautiful years. I hope this will be a re-start.i


i“Right now I am only focusing on celebrating today’s title. I am not in a position to think too far ahead; I need to think day by day, week by week. Let’s see how my knee feels in Acapulco. We will analyse at the end of this clay swing what happened in these last three tournaments and I will see if I am ready to play in Indian Wells.”i


Nalbandian: “I don’t think I played my best match of the week today. I think Rafa played better, he played deep. I was struggling to take the initiative during the points and although I had that lead in the second set, I couldn’t capitalise on it.i


i“I feel good because after a long time not playing, I reached the final in Sao Paulo. In Buenos Aires the conditions are much different than here, the courts and conditions are much slower, the balls are heavier. So I need to adapt as soon as possible to try to play my best tennis at home.”i


Soares: "It was an amazing feeling. The people in Brazil, they really like to cheer you on. For me, it's very special, being Brazilian, to play well this week. It's the only chance I get to play at home. Being able to have a good week and a great result is fantastic. The atmosphere on court was amazing."i


Peya: "We played a very good match from the beginning, I think we could have won the first set. We had a couple of break points and they came up with some really good points. But even after the first set, we had a good feeling. We got off to a good start and then it was one-way traffic for a little while."i
